CFH 30 Day Nutrition Challenge – Meeting this Sunday at 11AM!

Below is a blog post from Coach Alexa about New Year’s resolutions, nutrition and what you can get out of joining in the CFH 30-Day Clean Eating Challenge, kicking off this Sunday @ 11AM!

With every New Year comes New Year’s resolutions. There are tons of popular resolutions out there, but with the CFH 30 Day Nutrition Challenge kicking off this weekend, I’m going to talk specifically about the ever-popular “Clean up my diet” resolution. While the *intention* behind this resolution is great, it is a bad resolution and I will tell you why. In order for a goal or a resolution to be most effective, you need two things:

  1. A task that is tangible, concrete, and achievable
  2. A plan of action

The reason why New Year’s resolutions fail more often than not, is because most lack these two very important pieces. If you’ve already made the resolution to eat healthier, I urge you revise that resolution to be “Complete the CFH 30-Day Clean Eating Challenge”!

Why Complete a 30-Day Challenge?

A 30-Day Nutrition Challenge is a tangible, concrete, achievable goal. The meeting will lay out a plan of action for you. By completing the pre-challenge WOD, you have a benchmark measurement of your physical capacity. By undertaking this goal, you have officially converted your wishy-washy resolution into a goal with a concrete plan of action and measureable results. Changing your diet for 30 days and committing to only eating clean foods is significant. It is long enough to change old unhealthy habits and create new healthy ones. This will not be easy and having the support of others who have a similar goal will make you more successful, not to mention make the process a lot more fun!

Lastly, I’ll share my personal experience in a few short bullets. I have done several of these in the past, here’s what I got out of them:

  • Energy! Waking up in January sucks, period, making it the perfect time for this challenge. Complying with a 30-Day nutrition challenge gave me tons of energy and made waking up on cold, dark January mornings so much easier.
  • This is like rehab for sugar addicts. I used to be the type of person who couldn’t walk past a candy bowl and not take a handful. After eliminating sugar from my diet several times, my sweet tooth has become virtually non-existent.
  • Better WOD times! After the initial sluggishness you may experience from eating less refined carbs and sugar, you will kill your WODs.
