Our last rendition of Friday Night Lights at CFH is going down tomorrow (Friday)! No 6:30 pm class.  We will hit 15.5 at 6:30 pm.  After the WOD we will head to Delia Foley’s for a celebration of epic proportions…or possibly just a few drinks and some food.  All are invited and welcome to come, it does not matter if you did the open or did not do the open.

Survey Feedback Series

WODify and Retail

The people want some food, snacks and maybe a few drinks.  Phase two of the construction will be going on in the next few months.  I plan to ramp up the lobby and retail section of the gym.  I always turned away from retail because I wanted the major focus to be you’re fitness! But now with this awesome staff of trainers it will give me some time to build up other aspects of the gym.  It might be a few months, but look for some new shirts and some quick on the go food options (mostly meal replacement bars).

There were a few comments about WODify in the surveys.  Some negative and some positive.  Right now WODify is the best system for us as a gym.  It might change in the future, but now it does a great job of tracking progress and managing everything on the back end.  The big complaint is the ranking system.  I agree and I have been on the phone with them and asked for there to be an option to record data, but not be on the leader board for the day.  They will not budge.  So here is our solution.  We will start to transition to getting scores at the end of class as you clean up, we will then stretch the class out and not continue to take scores.  If you missed getting your score just hop up and log it in.  If you HATE being ranked then do not log your score.  There is no mandatory score logging (we just ask that you sign in) and coaches do not have to be the one to put you in.   We will stop calling out names and taking scores though.  Our focus will be on the cool down and less on scores.

We do not post about WODify rankings, we do not take screen shots and congratulate people for being #1 in the gym.  There is no celebration that goes on for being top on the leader board.  And guess what…the next day they go away and not a damn person checks them.  The goal of rankings is to fuel friendly competition.  It has at times caused people to shave reps, as a staff we have approached them and dealt with that the best we could.  We take that seriously and we do not just ignore the situation.  Cutting reps only hurts the athlete doing it, but we understand it can be frustrating.  #BRODOYOUEVENCOUNT

In the end it is in place to track your improvement.  I will highlight some of the features in the next few weeks on how you can look up old lifts, plan for your next PR, and check old benchmark WODs.  It is a powerful and useful tool.

Ultimately if you have a 47 next to your name or a 3 it does not really matter.  #1.  Be happy for yourself, your PRs and your progress.  Did you show up? YES Did you workout? YES, Congrats, that is more then 90% of the population! #2 As we have seen in the open, CrossFit is bigger than CFH.  The best person in CFH is 1,000 something in the world. So again #1 at CFH gets you a whole bunch of….nothing. #3 If it pisses you off then do not look.  Checking the WODify leader board is not part of the program.

I know the majority of the members have expressed to me that they like how it tracks progress and they feed off friendly competition.  If it is a negative thing for you do not log your score.  Get a notebook and write down your lifts, because tracking progress is still important.
