John P’s Goal Setting/Goat Course is happening tonight at 6:30 pm! Hope to see everyone there.

There have been many inspiring stories at CFH, but this one has to be up there.  Ben G.  emailed and asked me to post this so he could express his gratitude to the CFH community.  Thank you Ben and thank you everyone for helping to create such a positive and inspiring environment.

Crossfit Federal Hill,

Thank you everyone for the support since I joined CFH. Yesterday was an exceptionally emotional barrier for me. I know working out with me might be confusing because I have a cute dog no one can pet, I am drawing blood, attaching tubing to my body, or chugging a Powerade. None of you judge and instead embrace my odd habits. Yesterday was huge for me not only because it was the first time I have competed since I stopped swimming and dropped out of collSONY DSCege due to Lyme Disease, but also because I surpassed a personal barrier.

I am grateful for the community at Crossfit Federal Hill because although I am not the most approachable person at workouts (I know, I have some serious resting bitch face) but you all empower me to overcome my chronic disease. Officially, I am classified as disabled, protected by the American Disability Act, and could easily sit at home and collect a monthly government check. Each and every workout is a struggle and can only be accomplished through precision, timing, experience, and guesstimation. The seriousness of my scowl is not the absence of friendliness, but rather the presence of serious intent: I intend to push my body as fast and far as possible not only for myself, but also to educate and inspire others who are dealing with diabetes. You may not realize it, but you help push my boundaries each and every workout. I am thankful for your support and I appreciate all of it in each of its different forms. Your support translates to not only my personal achievements, but it has pushed me in my professional aspirations. Again, thank you for yesterday. Every fist bump and high five makes all of the difference in my daily fight against diabetes.
