Introducing, Nutrition Wednesday!
We are about to kick off something new. Once a week, we are going to post something on the blog and social media with a focus on nutrition– These will be tips for staying fueled and hydrated, recipes, post-workout nutrition, anything related to what you put in your mouth and how it impacts your athletic performance. We want to help you use nutrition to reach your fullest athletic potential. Below is a simple graphic. This pyramid is known as the theoretical hierarchy of development of an athlete. It comes from a CrossFit Journal article written by CrossFit founder Greg Glassman a while back. Glassman wrote, “the logical flow is from molecular foundations, cardiovascular sufficiency, body control, external object control, and ultimately mastery and application.” If a deficiency exists at any level of the pyramid, the components above it will suffer. Notice that nutrition forms the base of the pyramid. Without attention to this piece of the puzzle, you will never develop to your fullest potential as an athlete. Stay tuned for more to come!
