You may remember Paige as one of our team captains from the CFH Intramural Open. Or maybe you have known her long before that. Paige has been a long-time member at CFH and is an amazing example of dedication and commitment. As a doctor, Paige works a lot, including overnight and long shifts. Despite a hectic schedule she has made continual progress and motivated many CFH members through her consistency, kindness, positive attitude.
How has CrossFit affected your life?
CrossFit, and mostly CFH, has impacted my life in so many positive ways. The most obvious is in my overall physical fitness, and health. Before I started CrossFit, I was only running for exercise. I loved it, but was constantly getting injured and having to take breaks in training, and it just wasn’t sustainable, or working for my body. Since starting CF, I haven’t had been injured or had to take a training break once. That can probably be attributed to many things, including great coaching, warm-ups, programming, etc. But I think also speaks to the fact that CF helps us develop into more well-rounded, functional athletes and people.
When I first started, I was just coming to classes to get a good workout. But, one of the things I love about CF, is the inherent goal-oriented nature of the program. CFH goes beyond with offering specialized strength, and gymnastic programming. And I think after taking John P’s strength class is when everything kind of shifted for me. I was able to see when I consistently worked on a few skills, and dialed in my focus, I saw measurable results. As he would say “consistency is key”, and it is so true.
Not only do I feel, physically, the best I have in my life, but CF has transcended to to my personal life, as well. I have so much more self-confidence, and my only regret is that I didn’t find CF sooner.
What is your biggest success since joining CFH?
It’s hard to pin down one thing! It felt great to get my first pull-up, and PRs are awesome. But I would have to say my biggest success if probably being consistent, and getting better little by little- I’m enjoying the process!
